Imagine, when you enter your home or your office and your eyes cross the walls for a moment and you suddenly become brighter, more inspired and happy. I make that kind of paintings. The paintings that lift your spirit! The secret is in the process. For many years I read about finding your voice in art, having your own style and all that comes along those pieces of advice, and yes, it helped me to develop technique, get really skilled and pick the materials that suit me the best, but still wasn’t quite right.
Only 3 years ago I found a real connection with art, how to express through art and how to make art meaningful. I was going through a lot of personal changes and transformational work in that time I found a way from how to put these processes to my art. I started to integrate my shifts, new feelings and new energy into art. My paintings became a physical artistic expression of growth, connection, love, worthiness, enoughness, joy, possibilities, each subject that I was processing, it landed on the canvas. People started to really feel my paintings and suddenly I felt I am finally making a change.
Once I gave away a painting to a woman and she put it on the wall, cried for 3 days and felt a release. Why? She didn’t know, that this painting was made as a result of processing self-love. In one of the layers that were created in the art process of this painting, I wrote words of love towards myself, of all the things that I appreciate, that matter and that I value about me. I put that new feeling of self-love, that energy I shifted into the artwork. I wasn’t aware how it could affect other people and only later I saw that this painting was meant for her because she needed it, she unknowingly released some emotions that were not on the same vibe of love as the painting presented. Now it inspires her, makes her experience the feeling of love, each time when she enters the room. Sometimes I get a message from her “I’ve just got from work, now I am lying on my sofa and hanging out with the painting”. At that point, I started to truly understand art and its meaning.
The other thing that is important to me is to explore new ways of shaping the surface. I’ve tried dozens of art materials in my past until I discovered that what excites me the most and it’s the texture. My paintings are generously textured. I love adding a new dimension to artworks that are usually just two-dimensional. I love how the texture pulls out something new and unexpected. People always ask me “can I touch the surface”, they get so curious and excited, guessing the materials I used and exploring each inch of the painting close-up. So fun to watch!
I am also a person that spends a lot of time in nature. I find peace and connection when I hike, sit on some higher hill and look down to the valley or just lay in the grass and observe leaves on a macro level. I become grounded and calm around the trees and flowers. I use motifs from nature on the canvas as well. It helps me to bring those feelings to my home so I feel surrounded by nature all the time, even when working on the computer behind the desk. I don’t really like winter so the paintings are especially soothing for me in the cold season. I can keep the colours of spring and autumn (my favourite time) on my walls all year long.
